IRIDIUM

We can consult and service your Iridium equipment. Supply and activation of Iridium terminals for Russian subscribers can be done only after certification of the system by Russian authorities.

Only Iridium puts global satellite communications in the palm of your hand providing you with the convenience of portable or fixed communications and the ability to take care of business no matter where you are.

The Iridium Satellite System is the only provider of truly global, truly mobile satellite voice and data solutions with complete coverage of the Earth (including oceans, airways and Polar regions). Through a constellation of 66 low-earth orbiting (LEO) satellites operated by Boeing, Iridium delivers essential communications services to and from remote areas where terrestrial communications are not available. The service is ideally suited for industrial applications such as heavy construction, defense/military, emergency services, maritime, mining, forestry, oil and gas and aviation.

Eighty-six percent of the world’s landmass and all of its oceans are in areas with inadequate landline service. Iridium addresses these situations by providing coverage in all ocean areas, air routes and all landmasses – even the Poles. Using your computer and an Iridium satellite phone, you can connect to the Internet or a corporate network from virtually anywhere in the world, allowing you to browse the web, send and receive email and transfer files. As an Iridium voice subscriber, your phone performs double-duty as a voice communication and messaging device. The Iridium Satellite phone can send and receive up to 160 alphanumeric characters, in a single message. Once you turn your phone on and register with the Iridium satellite network, your new messages will be sent directly to your handset.

Iridium 9522B L-Band Transceiver is a stand-alone module that provides developers a module that can be integrated into application based equipment or dedicated terminal developments. The 9522B LBT is intended for incorporation into a final Iridium application / product that would supply power to the unit as well as the appropriate data and or voice interface. Data applications are also supported through an RS-232 serial interface.

Iridium Data Access

The complete range of Iridium data services are accessible using the 9522B, the terminal also supports SMS and the following Iridium Data Services:

  • Circuit Switched Data
  • Direct Internet
  • RUDICS
  • Short Burst Data

Developers

The 9522B transceiver module is purely designed for use by system integrators and developers looking to integrate Iridium transceivers as part of an overall solution. The transceiver module comes as a raw product and does not include any power or data cables, mounting brackets or voice or data interface connectors, all these items must be supplied by the developer of the end solution.

Due to the nature of this terminal warranty of the product is limited to core operational failure, damage to the power supply or serial ports is not covered under warranty.

Developed Alternative

Beam supplies a fully certified and complete 9522B terminal, RST600 Data Modem. The RST600 is a commercially available terminal that supplies the interface for a simple DC power connection, Serial Data Port and robust mounting bracket as a complete ready to use terminal for any data application.

Connectors

The 9522B LBT incorporates four interface connectors:

  • Multi-Interface Connector
  • Iridium Antenna Connector – SMA
  • GPS Feed Through Connector – SMA

The Multi-Interface Connector is a standard 26-pin 0.1” pitch short latch IDC header with pins in two rows of 13. Connection to this is made using a 26-way IDC. The 9522B LBT provides a single 50Ω, SMA type Iridium antenna connector.

The GPS feed through connector is provided to allow an Iridium 9522B and a GPS module to share a single antenna. Either a passive or an active GPS module can be connected to the 9522B GPS output. The gain from the 9522B antenna input to the GPS connector is 0dB (±2dB) The GPS output is available at all times when the 9522B is powered, except during the transmit cycle1. This should provide adequate signal for most GPS receivers because the Iridium antenna will already be well sited. If the Iridium antenna is being shared with GPS then it is important to use an antenna with adequate gain at 1575MHz.

An integrated SIM chip reader is provided on the 9522B LBT. This connector allows installation of the chip form of the SIM beneath a cover plate on the 9522B LBT housing.

  • Flexible and attractive pricing packages
  • Lightweight, low-profile omni-directional satellite antenna

The Iridium OpenPort below-decks unit contains three RJ11 jacks, enabling users to make up to three simultaneous voice calls, even during data transmission – no more waiting for a free phone line to make a call. Crew calls are easily separated from ship’s business calls for simplified accounting.

Iridium OpenPort utilizes true IP technology to provide a flexible and powerful array of data services. A single Ethernet port provides a connection to a standard PC or to a router or hub for multiple PCs.

With its small footprint and light weight, the Iridium OpenPort omni-directional antenna array does not require a stabilization platform and is virtually maintenance-free. It can be mounted in any convenient location on deck for quick, easy and inexpensive installation.

Sailor SC4000 Iridium

The SC4000 is well-suited for all types of vessels – from fishing boats and cargo ships to powerboats, yachts and cruise liners – even in remote areas, both on land and at sea. The SC4000 puts you in closer contact with the world.

The compact SC4000 consists of only three units: the antenna SA4110, the transceiver ST4120 and the intelligent handset SC4150. It can operate with as many as four handsets, making it possible to use the system anywhere on board.

The fact that the antenna can always “see” three satellites ensures good contact at all times and guarantees a clear signal irrespective of the distance between the communicating parties.

The SAILOR SC4150 is a handset and control unit in one. It features a logic menu structure and is easy to use as it is operated in exactly the same way as a conventional mobile phone. The large 4-line/12-character LCD display shows all the major functions and includes system surveillance and all the usual mobile phone functions. As it is equipped with a small but efficient loudspeaker, incoming calls are easy to hear – even in wheelhouses and other noisy environments.

The smart, ruggedized transceiver contains an L-band transceiver (LBT) and a built-in SIM card reader unit designed for the small SIM cards used in most types of mobile phones.

Features:

  • 2.4 kbps data transmission and Iridium’s 10 kbps compressed data service
  • Direct connection for PABX or standard telephones
  • Easy to install and requires a minimum of space
  • Small and light-weight antenna with no moving parts
  • Easily accessed SIM-card reader
  • Low power consumption
