The international transport group “TRANSIT” has carried out the first sea transportation on its own RO-LO vessel Transit Sedanka on a new route – from South Korea to Kaliningrad.
Previously, the vessel was used mainly for short voyages, in particular: the port of Qingdao – the port of Vladivostok. This route allowed for the efficient transportation of goods between China and Russia, providing reliable logistics in the short sea communication segment. With the expansion of capabilities and the desire to offer customers larger-scale solutions, “TRANSIT” decided to carry out longer voyages.
The first such project was the sea transportation of goods with a batch volume of more than 15,000 m3, weighing about 8,000 tons from South Korea to Kaliningrad – one of the key logistics hubs of Russia. For the first time, TRANZIT will implement a sea connection over a significant distance with its own bulk vessel. Transportation of such a volume of cargo is not only a demonstration of the technical capabilities of the Transit Sedanka vessel, but also confirmation of the high level of professionalism of the entire TRANSIT team.
This direction of sea transportation is not new – previously, our own container ship Transit Tavayza regularly carried out round trips along this route.
However, transportation of such a volume of general cargo on our own RO-LO vessel over such a significant distance is a new stage in the development and expansion of the company’s capabilities.
After unloading in Kaliningrad, Transit Sedanka will head to St. Petersburg and carry out the next stage of transportation, providing customers with access to new opportunities.
Transit Sedanka will carry out transportation along a proven route on a regular basis, which will significantly increase the range of logistics solutions for our customers.
We are ready to implement requests for export transportation in the direction of the port of St. Petersburg – Southeast Asia and offer effective solutions for organizing cargo transportation in this direction.
“Delivery of heavy and large-sized equipment is a truly difficult task, but we know how to do it as reliably as possible. Specialists carefully analyze each cargo and route, taking into account the technical characteristics of the equipment, taking measurements and assessing all possible restrictions – weight, dimensions, road. This allows you to choose the best transport: low-deck trailers, special platforms with reinforced suspension, as well as the necessary equipment for loading and unloading operations. We undertake the registration of all necessary permits, customs clearance, and transportation support. If necessary, we organize multimodal transportation – combining road, rail and sea transport to optimize timing and cost. We pay special attention to the development of a transportation schedule taking into account weather conditions and seasonal restrictions. For goods that require maintaining a temperature regime, we provide appropriate transportation conditions. “Thanks to our own fleet of special equipment, well-established partnerships and an individual approach, we will help you carry out transportation quickly and efficiently,” commented Eldar Ibragimov, Head of Oversized Cargo Transportation:
“TRANSIT specializes in comprehensive solutions for the transportation of heavy and oversized cargo, providing a full delivery cycle – from receiving the cargo at the manufacturer to its installation at the destination.
The peculiarity of project logistics is the need to take into account a wide range of factors: the weight and dimensions of the cargo, its nature and fragility, delivery times, seasonal features, transportation temperature conditions, as well as customs clearance requirements. To perform such complex tasks, “TRANSIT” uses a specialized vessel Transit Sedanka type MPP (Multi-Purpose Project), RO-LO with a deadweight of 11,281 tons and a maximum draft at full load of 7.6 meters. The vessel is equipped with five isolated cargo spaces, which allows combining different types of cargo and servicing several destination ports within one voyage. Loading is possible both in the holds and on the upper deck, the total area of the decks is about 4900 m². To handle heavy cargo, the vessel is equipped with two ship cranes with a total lifting capacity of 120 tons each. A rolling connection is provided between the tween deck and the hold using a lift with a lifting capacity of up to 40 tons, which facilitates the movement of self-propelled units inside the vessel. In modern shipping, RO-LO technology is becoming increasingly popular, combining two loading methods – Roll-on / Roll-off and Lift-on / Lift-off. RO-LO vessels are capable of accepting both self-propelled cargo – cars, special equipment, trailers – and heavy or large-sized objects that are lifted by a crane,” said Alexander Kuimov, Director of the General Cargo Department.
