
The Geophysicist vessel has been transferred to the National operator of the Scientific Research Fleet
The vessel will undergo comprehensive repairs and be equipped with advanced scientific equipment.
The Federal Property Management Agency has officially assigned the Geophysicist vessel of unlimited navigation area to the National Operator of the Scientific Research Fleet (NATSONIF).
This is reported by the press service of the National Science Foundation. The vessel is planned to be used in the Far Eastern seas and the Pacific Ocean as part of forty-day expeditions for geological, oceanographic, hydrophysical research and exploration of mineral resources. To do this, it will undergo comprehensive repairs and be equipped with advanced scientific equipment.
“This decision is not just a bureaucratic formality, but a strategic step within the framework of Russia’s Maritime Doctrine,” the report says.

The vessel of project 16151 was built by Khabarovsk Shipbuilding and Mechanical Plant named after S.M. Kirov in 1983. The port of registry is Murmansk. The owner of the vessel was JSC Arctic Marine Engineering and Geological Expeditions (AMIGE, part of Rosgeologiya).
