After five years of design, construction and trial flight, the first large cruise ship of Chinese construction and development, Adora Magic City, was commissioned in Shanghai at the CSSC Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS) shipyard, its first flight is scheduled for January 1, 2024, Xinhua news agency reports.

The cruise ship is 323.6 m long, with a gross capacity of 135,500 tons, accommodates up to 5,246 passengers and has a total of 2,125 guest rooms.

Designed with 16 floors, the liner has a total of 40 thousand square meters of public living space and recreation areas.

The contract for design and shipbuilding was signed at the first China International Import Exhibition in Shanghai in November 2018.

To date, China has managed to build an aircraft carrier, a large tanker for the transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and a large cruise liner – some of the most complex projects in the field of shipbuilding.
