The largest Russian research vessel (NIS) “Akademik Mstislav Keldysh”, which has more than 80 expeditions to the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, Antarctica and the Arctic, will be upgraded in 2022.
Next year, the scientific research vessel Akademik Mstislav Keldysh will be modernized, ” the TASS report says.
The following tasks are currently running:
– deep modernization projects are being created for the vessels of the IO RAS – “Academician Sergey Vavilov” and “Academician Nikolai Strakhov”.
– working and design documents are being developed.
For 2022, scientists have big plans: they are going to update the 40-year-old vessel of the NIS “Akademik Mstislav Keldysh”. This vessel was a member of 82 expeditions to different parts of the world:to the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, Antarctica and the Arctic. On board this vessel are located underwater vehicles “Mir”, which contribute to the most effective study of the seabed and the search for sunken objects.
Despite the long service life, the vessels are in good condition and cope with their tasks, ” Konstantin Roginsky, head of the project for the modernization of the scientific fleet of the IO RAS, told TASS. Funds for the upcoming work are allocated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia as part of the national project “Science”.
